The “Smartgun” will be extremely intuitive to use.  Upon releasing the gun’s normal safety (which pre-arms an electronic module), the user’s gripping of the pistol will activate the recognition system.   At the rear of the gun, an LED light will turn green if the user is recognized and the gun is operable.  Otherwise, the LED remains red and the weapon cannot be fired.
